As of now, it is not possible to play PS1 games on the PS4 without jailbreaking the console, a process which involves downloading custom firmware onto the machine.

This is generally considered ill-advised as installing illegally-downloaded games can lead to serious legal ramifications, not to mention the danger it can pose to the console itself.

The only way PS1 games would become widely available is if Sony made an official software emulator that allowed them to sell the classic games digitally.
