By the looks of it, Circle Flip comes loaded with everything that one has come to expect from a ThemeForest premium WordPress theme. Retina ready graphics, a drag and drop page builder, SEO ready settings, and so on. Beyond that, this theme integrates well with WooCommerce , bbPress, Mega Menu and a lot many common plugins.

Of course, Circle Flip is translation ready and fully responsive. Beyond that, this theme also offers custom page layouts as well as live preview elements, magazine layout, and a lot more. All said and done, in terms of sheer features, Circle Flip seems like a very worthy and interesting WordPress theme. That said, how does it fare in terms of actual performance? I decided to give it a spin on my test site.

First up, the theme is super bulky and loaded. The zipped file is a little over 30 MB in size, so be sure your server space allows uploading of such file sizes often, especially in shared web hosting, the PHP maximum upload size is capped at 16 MB; you can easily edit that in the settings section of your hosting panel. Now, Circle Flip comes with a set of plugins that you are advised to activate.

These range from the obvious ones, such as bbPress, to the custom ones, such as Circle Flip portfolio plugin for, well, the portfolio post type.

Since my main focus for this review is the theme itself, I will be bypassing the description of the plugins. The one thing that I loved the most about this theme is that unlike most other ThemeForest products, Circle Flip does not make drastic changes to your WordPress admin panel. There are no new menus, no detailed settings, etc. Whatever occurs, stays within the Appearance section of WordPress. As always, right after activation, I dived straight into the Theme Options section.

The Theme Options section is very straightforward, and you will have a hard time getting confused there. Trust me, it is so simple. For a start, the General Settings let you edit header, footer, logo and other appearance related options. I will be discussing the Header section in detail later on. You also get to specify details for specific page templates, such as archives, author pages, category pages, sitemaps, and so on. The theme relies on the Revolution Slider plugin for the slider functionality bundled , so you will have to activate that plugin before you can actually do anything worthwhile with the theme.

You can specify typography details, such as fonts, font size, and so on. Not many themes cater to RTL languages in such detail, so this is surely one area where Circle Flip scores very well. The Theme Options section also has a panel for WooCommerce settings which, simply put, whether to have a masonry layout for your shop, and whether or not to have a sidebar on the shop page. There are also specialized settings for Maintenance Mode, but the theme also asks you to activate the WP Maintenance Mode plugin — strictly speaking, I would suggest you to let the maintenance mode functionality remain with the plugin.

As it is, you would use the maintenance mode section barely once or twice when building your site, and having such functionality in the theme just makes the theme heavier. Now, since we are done with the settings of Circle Flip, there is something more to it. The theme is probably the only one of its kind that comes with a custom header builder.

Strictly speaking, the header is the most seen yet overlooked part of your website. It can showcase menu items, your logo, social media buttons, advertisements, and a lot more. Circle Flip capitalizes on this knowledge, and lets you build your header from scratch. Basically, you get to add menus, social icons, text, buttons, ads, and other content to your header within minutes. Circle Flip is backed by a very active support forum. In terms of documentation, there are separate guides and tutorials for each section of the theme, be it the custom portfolio post type or the above mentioned header builder.

There are some video tutorials as well. Uploaded and accessible via YouTube, the playlist is very small — just 3 tutorials.

They cover basics such as theme options, the content builder and maintenance mode. Obviously, these tutorials are good to have, but some more videos will really do justice to this great theme.

That said, the documentation is very well organized and written, so the users can do well even without accessing the videos. Circle Flip is a unique theme in many aspects. The Header Builder surely is a very novel concept, and it works flawlessly. The theme does what it is supposed to do, and it does not load you down with bloated content, nor makes drastic changes to the WordPress admin panel. The theme also has unique custom page templates, such as those for hosting websites, and an option to create a one-page website within minutes.

I would, however, prefer if some more video tutorials were added, and more importantly, if redundant functionality such as Maintenance Mode was downplayed, possibly in favor of some front-end innovation. At the end of the day, Circle Flip is a very worthy theme and if you are looking for a multipurpose theme for your WordPress website, Circle Flip should surely be in your shortlist.
